AN AMAZING STORY BY BETTY: One summer
day as I
was mowing grass in the pond area, I noticed Hinny Penny (our
chicken) was acting very scared & running around like a
chicken with her head cut off! Well- next thing I knew
she had jumped into the pond trying to get away from my
roaring lawn motor! As you know chickens hate water & do
not know how to swim, right? It looked as if she was FLOATING
on the pond. Louis came over to watch. We just knew she was about to sink. As
I went to get the net to rescue her. She looked around at Louis
& me as we tried to get her to come to us so could
get her into the net to safety, but noooo- she scooted around,
looked at the other side of the bank and there she saw the
10 ducks & our roster named Old Lou ( her
friend) there waiting
for her! This chicken is special! Yes, you guessed
it- she swam (danced) her way on the water over to the ducks like she had seen the ducks
do before & jumped out onto the edge of the pond, she was
safe on the other side in no time at all! I could just
imagine her little chicken feet just moving ninety miles an
hour to get to the other side!
Louis & I clapped &
praised her when she made it safely out! We must have looked
so funny to any of our neighbors looking our way! You know what they say -
the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence (pond) in this
case! What a sight!
